Cade found this nest in our backyard patio construction. we watched the sweet momma sit there many days. on mothers day (how fitting) i climbed up on a ladder, held my camara above my head, and snapped a shot. there were 5 beautiful blue eggs. after that, it was all i could do to not obsess about their welfare. i would pace during those crazy rain and wind storms (they were completely sheltered), became an educated red robin student, and even contemplated the 'sign' of their being 5 eggs in that nest, and only 4 in mine (got over that quickly). it was an amazing experience for me and my family. a true gift. i cried like a proud parent when the first one flew down (and landed on a wiggles car, where he stayed for most of the day), and felt empty when the last little guy left, true empty nest syndrome. so for all my friends who heard me talk about my 'babies" for almost a month, here are a few (of the 100) pictures i took. i am a converted bird lover, & am truly amazed & grateful for the miracle of nature, to remind me of my greatest role.

Wow! That's fun to watch. We used to get birds in the barn when we lived in Heber and they were so fun to watch in the spring time. We are now doing the same thing - only with bunnies! If you ever decide you want to have a bunny - please call me :)
You are too cute! I'm sorry they are all gone now but I bet some other family won't let that nest go to waste.

Oh! You are an empty-nester! So so fun to have anest in your yard and watch that miracle of life happen! I bet your boys loved it too! :)
Last summer my kids and i were fascinated as we watched a mamma bird build a nest in our tree..then one day i looked in and saw 4 blue eggs too..then we watched the miracle unfold...one of our little babies, dropped out of the nest and fell on the patio--we cried. What a beautiful world we get to live in! Loved your pics!

They are adorable! My how fast the month goes! I can't believe those little babies are already hatched and gone...I would cry too!

We have bird make nests in our pine trees and lay eggs every year - many nests. Unfortunately, the neighbors cats always get to them right after they hatch because they are so noisy. Now you know why I don't like cats.
very cool- love the nest w/the eggs photo!! Great job on the photos and the story! My neighbor had a bird build a nest above her front door and now that the babies are here, she flies and hits people in the head when they come to her door :)!
